So, I woke up this morning and realized for the first time in 23 years I wouldn't be telling my son Josiah Happy Birthday either face-to-face or on the phone. I think his wife made sure it was a happy day for him! I love you Josiah!
Today is a fairly steep climb to Shira Camp, at 11,499 feet. This hike takes us out of the rain forest through through tall grasses, heather and volcanic rock.
If you look at the picture carefully, you can see the trail winding up through the hills to the right of the photo.There is an amazing view of Kibo - the highest peak on Kilimanjaro - from Shira Camp. Breathtaking.
